Basic ADR training for drivers
In order to obtain the right to transport dangerous goods (except Class 1 and Class 7 goods) in packages or in bulk and to obtain the relevant certificate, a person shall undergo a basic training course in accordance with Annex 2 to the Republic of Latvia Cabinet Regulation No. 514 and pass the relevant examination.
The duration of the basic training course is 36 hours. The duration of the course is 5 working days (1 week) 9:00 – 17:00.


Basic training course covers:
- General rules for the carriage of dangerous goods
- Main hazards
- Protection of the environment
- Safety precautions for different hazards
- Action to be taken in the event of an accident (e.g. first aid, road safety, use of personal protective equipment)
- Signs and danger signs, markings
- Driver’s behaviour during carriage of dangerous goods
- Vehicle equipment, its importance and use
- Prohibitions on mixed loading
- Loading and unloading of dangerous goods
- Responsibility in the transport of dangerous goods
- Multimodal transport
- Packaging operations, placement of packages on the vehicle
- Carriage of dangerous goods in tunnels
- Understanding protective measures
